“Where do you get your ideas from?”
It seems to be a question that crops up at any sort of creative talk event,
whether the person speaking is an expert on branding or a best selling author. The responses can be just as varied, and they always seem to leave the questioner dissatisfied.
This is partly due to the elusive nature of ideas and how complex ideation is. Many people have managed to come up with an idea only to find themselves unable to follow up with anything worthwhile. Is this because people are only allotted a certain number of ideas, or is something deeper? Perhaps a malaise from their lifestyle? It is easy to see why those that make their living from their creative abilities start becoming superstitious, believing in their rituals and habits. Like footballers with their lucky shoes they live in fear of the wellspring of talent drying up.

Despite all the advice and lists that tell you how to stay creative there are no hard and fast rules, no guarantees. But there are things you can do that might help, and this kit is aimed at helping you keep your edge. Stylishly designed by Work Lab for Lab Rats and containing a multitude of objects, from the necessary (notebooks) to the random (the slogan math sticks), it stimulates the imagination.
The biggest success of the kit in my mind is in the way it’s presented. A false book for keeping treasures in is something that almost every child wanted, and anybodies who’s ever spoken to a child can tell you how imaginative they are. Could you think of a better starting point?
If you need something designed then why not submit a brief on the Creative Services Exchange.
