Allow us to present the Solar Handbag from Danish design studio Diffus. It’s not the first bag with solar panels that we’ve seen, but it’s certainly the most beautiful. Other solar bags place function over form, and you wouldn’t want to carry them around. Diffus teamed up with a Swiss embroidery specialist to create solar ‘sequins,’ of which there are over a hundred on the bag. During the day they charge a lithium ion battery inside the bag, which you can use to charge your phone. At night, opening the handbag activates optic fibres that diffuse light throughout the interior.  Sadly, the Solar Handbag is not commercially available, though we imagine it could do well as a luxury item. We’d much rather have a Solar Handbag than a hyper-branded Louis Vuitton.
