Although they’ve been around for years, over the past twelve months, infographics have been popping up all over the place; linked to on tweets, they seem to be posted in every second creative blog, not to mention all those techy websites…
So infographics have undoubtedly become this years marketing must-have. What are they you ask? surely you know by now…
Infographics are basically a well presented visual of information. It’s their effectiveness that’s making them so popular.
For those of us who find browsing through a bulk of statistical information a slow process, a well designed visual might just be the answer. Send me an excel sheet charting the diversity of ducks in Scotland, It’s gunna end up in the trash.. send me the same study as an inforgraphic and I’ll probably give it a couple of minutes… These graphics work as a powerful learning tool, translating information into an easy to understand and visually pleasing form. But of course, they have to be more than just a pretty picture, marketers use infographics to improve the diversity of the content and attract more visual learners, informing, while engaging.
