A couple of weeks ago we looked at The Art of Infographics, highlighting how the London Underground and the global financial crash has inspired creativity because of a need to make sense of complex scenarios.
Well, today we thought we’d bring you some of the best infographics from around the world…some are straight forward and others, well, aren’t.
So without further ado, here’s five fantastic infographics to inspire all you graphic designers out there:
1. An illustrated coffee guide
There’s too much choice these days. What was once a simple request for a coffee has turned into the Spanish Inquisition. Americano, Cappuccino, Macchiato…you need a degree these days just to get some caffeine down your neck. This infographic makes everything all good though, courtesy of lokeshdhakar.com:
2. A century of motoring in America
It’s over a hundred years now since we fell in love with the automobile. And this fantastic infographic uses the familiar layout of a board game to chart its evolution.
3. Periodic table of typefaces
Courtesy of Squidspot, this infographic takes a look at the myriad (no typeface pun in intended…) of typefaces out there and presents them in the classic periodic table format.
4. Starbucks and McDonald’s rule the world
Ever wonder why you can’t walk five minutes without seeing either a McDonald’s, Starbucks or even both? Simple – they’re everywhere. And this great graphical representation helps to show exactly where they roam…proliferation is probably the keyword here:
Apparently this one hangs in the headquarters of Google, Microsoft, Facebook, WordPress, Yahoo! Japan and CERN in Geneva. This has featured across a number of publications over the past few years, but it is a goodie. The Internet’s leading companies plotted onto the Tokyo Metro map.
